The process involved in image editing is one that to some would appear tricky and tedious but to others is straightforward and basic with the right knowledge of what software to use and how to manipulate to perfection. In this blog, I am going to go over all the intricacies of editing images and specifically tackle the aforementioned knowledge that will be helpful such as the appropriate software and the specific tools to use.

Software

Examples of software that I would deem appropriate would include Adobe Camera Raw and Adobe Bridge. These applications are fairly easy to use while not compromising on the possibilities or on the options that you may wish to use. I have used these two pieces of software for a while now and have found them to offer plenty of tools and haven’t run into any issues, making them ideal to use.

Lighting and exposure

The first step to making a regular run of the mill, image into one that grabs attention and looks visually appealing is to increase the lighting. The easiest method of doing this is by increasing the exposure slider on the right of Camera Raw to the right or moving it to the left to lower the exposure. When the image looks bright enough but the colours don’t pop the way you’d like them to, you can increase the saturation with the saturation slider which gives the image more life and works wonders while making the image look more impressive.

Masking

Masking is the term attributed to editing specific areas of the image and changing the settings using ai. The masking tool is on the right of the screen again and once selected, you will see the option to edit people, edit subject or edit background. Additional options include the option to use the brush tool which allows you to add or subtract certain areas that you wish or don’t wish to edit, allowing more editorial control over the finished result.

Geometry

Geometry is a set of settings that allows you to rotate and straighten images, say if you were to have an image that seems slanted, geometry settings would come in really useful in that happenstance. You can also tilt an image with these settings which you can use vertically or horizontally if you see it necessary but be careful of going too far with the settings which could worsen the optical appeal of your image.

Conclusion

In conclusion, there are a lot of options and possibilities for image manipulation using editing software such as Adobe Camera Raw and Adobe Bridge. These are the most useful and easy to navigate applications and the options detailed previously such as the masking tool, brush tool and the geometry settings prove just as much when used correctly. Editing images is significantly different to video editing and calls upon using completely unique tools to get results but both are very rewarding and useful in their own ways.
