The Chainmail armour, a mesh of interlocking rings, is notably spectacular and weighty. The weight can vary as much as 8-12kg! Helmets, shields, and weaponry — such as swords and axes — accentuate the Viking warrior’s readiness for combat, each a testament to their prowess and craftsmanship. The re-enactors’ transformation is more than physical; it was a journey into history.

The photographer orchestrates the technical aspects of the shoot, ensuring optimal lighting and camera settings to capture the subjects’ authenticity. The costumes of the Vikings present challenges to lighting, as the costumes and weaponry reflect.
